Tara Helms is a founding partner of Martin & Helms, P.C., a personal injury firm in Huntsville, Alabama. She has represented injured people and the families of those killed in car and truck crashes, workplace accidents, defective construction, product liability and dangerous drug claims, and medical cases, both in Alabama and in other states.

Helms grew up on a small farm in Blount County, Alabama, and was the first lawyer in her family. She received her law degree with honors from Cumberland School of Law in 1998, where she served on the law review and the National Moot Court Team, and she has practiced personal injury law since then. A relative’s lawsuit after a serious head-on collision gave her a firsthand view of what injured clients and their families go through, and she aims to keep the process as manageable as possible for them, whether a case settles or goes to trial.
