    Courtney M. Thom is a partner at Manly, Stewart, Finaldi & Thom in Irvine, California, where she represents survivors of sexual abuse in civil cases against the institutions and individuals responsible.

    Before joining the firm, Thom was a Deputy District Attorney for Orange County, California, where she prosecuted sexual assault, rape, child molestation and child pornography cases and conducted more than 50 criminal trials. In 2016 she worked in the District Attorney’s Sexual Assault Unit, prosecuting felony sexual assaults. She also trained the Orange County Sheriff’s Department on sexual assault investigations.

    In civil practice, Thom served as liaison counsel in a 2025 settlement of $828 million on behalf of 414 survivors of sexual abuse in Los Angeles County’s juvenile detention and foster care systems. She was trial counsel and lead settlement negotiator for 174 survivors in a 2026 confidential settlement in Oregon involving a former physician, and her firm bio lists additional school and church abuse settlements.

    Thom earned a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University in 2006 and a J.D., cum laude, from Pepperdine University in 2009. She received the Sexual Assault Victim Service Award from Waymakers in 2019, serves on the Orange County CASA Board of Directors and advocates for legislative reforms that protect people vulnerable to sexual abuse.
