James M. Morgan is a founding partner of Lanzone Morgan, LLP in Long Beach, California, where he represents elderly and dependent adults harmed by abuse or neglect in nursing homes and assisted living facilities, and their families. He has spent his career on the plaintiff side and has never represented insurers or large corporations.
The youngest of 11 children in a military family, Morgan graduated cum laude from Jacksonville State University in 1991 and magna cum laude from Washburn University School of Law in 1997. He began his career as an attorney for U.S. District Judge Warren K. Urbom and as a law clerk for retired Kansas Supreme Court Justice Harold S. Herd. He co-founded the firm with Anthony Lanzone after the two worked together at a previous firm on elder abuse cases.
Morgan is licensed in California, Arizona and Nevada and is admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California, the Ninth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. He has served as president of a national organization of lawyers who sue nursing homes over elder abuse, and The National Trial Lawyers has named him to its Top 10 Nursing Home Trial Lawyers and Top 100 lists.
