Lori E. Andrus is a partner at Andrus Anderson LLP, a plaintiffs’ firm in Oakland, California, and a past president of the American Association for Justice. She handles class actions, mass torts and other complex litigation for people harmed by dangerous drugs and medical devices, defective products, and corporate fraud or discrimination, and she also takes individual personal injury cases. Much of her work involves equal pay cases on behalf of women paid less than male colleagues.
Andrus grew up in Louisiana, graduated cum laude from Boston University and worked for two members of Congress before earning her law degree with honors from Duke University School of Law. She became a partner at Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein after five years of practice there. Her mass tort leadership includes serving as co-liaison counsel in the Roundup multidistrict litigation and on plaintiffs’ steering committees in the Essure, Yaz/Yasmin and Ortho Evra litigation. She was part of the trial team for crawfish farmers in West v. G&H Seeds, which settled during trial for $45 million.
She was a 2017 finalist for California Consumer Attorney of the Year for her role in an equal pay settlement with Farmers Insurance on behalf of its female staff attorneys. The National Law Journal named her one of 75 Outstanding Women Lawyers in 2015. Andrus is a past chair of the AAJ Women Trial Lawyers Caucus, has served on the Board of Governors of Consumer Attorneys of California and co-chaired Duke Law symposia on diversifying leadership in class actions and multidistrict litigation.
Trial Lawyer's Journal sets a new standard for law journal publications. With limited ads and one-of-a-kind content, it was created to celebrate wins both in and outside the courtroom.
