My calling in life is to be that advocate for my clients, and I’m never one to back down from a fight for what is right.

Micha Star Liberty is the founder of Liberty Law, an Oakland, California, firm she started in 2005 that also maintains a San Francisco presence. Her practice centers on survivors of sexual assault, child sexual abuse, harassment and human trafficking, and the firm also takes on workplace discrimination, retaliation and wrongful termination, personal injury, civil rights and consumer cases.

Liberty earned her undergraduate degree at the University of California, Los Angeles, and her law degree from the University of California, College of the Law, San Francisco, where she sat on the Moot Court Board and edited the Women’s Law Journal. Before law school she worked in the Clinton White House and for U.S. Representatives Mel Watt and Anna Eshoo, and she later served as a judicial extern to U.S. District Judge Thelton E. Henderson.

She was the 2020 president of the Consumer Attorneys of California and has also led the Western Trial Lawyers Association and the Alameda-Contra Costa Trial Lawyers Association. She served as vice president of the State Bar of California’s Board of Governors, sits on the American Association for Justice Board of Governors and became president of the National Crime Victim’s Bar Association in 2026. Liberty is also a certified mediator, a frequent lecturer on trial practice and sexual-abuse litigation, and the author of “Evolutionista,” a book on accountability and advocacy after sexual abuse.
