"There is a nationwide consequence when a healthcare provider is held responsible for their conduct, and as long as our firm has that effect we will continue to do this."

Jim Leventhal is a partner and the founder of Leventhal Puga Braley P.C. in Denver, Colorado. He represents patients and families in medical malpractice, personal injury and product liability cases, and his firm’s biography says he has worked on cases involving medical negligence and serious personal injury for more than 41 years.

In August 2021, Leventhal won a victory in the Kentucky Supreme Court for his client Melanie Robbins, when the court declined to review a Court of Appeals decision upholding her $4.13 million verdict plus interest against a radiologist. Robbins suffered permanent brain damage and paralysis after a brain bleed was missed at a Kentucky emergency department.

Leventhal earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1970 and a J.D. from the University of Denver in 1974. He served on the board of directors of the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association from 1987 to 2016 and has been on the American Association for Justice Board of Governors since 1998. He is a member of the Inner Circle of Advocates.

His honors include the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association’s Kenneth M. Kripke Lifetime Achievement Award, listings in Best Lawyers in America since 1992 and in Colorado Super Lawyers since 2006. He supports organizations including the American Red Cross, Jewish Family Services and the American Cancer Society, and has co-sponsored seminars for primary care doctors on melanoma and other skin cancers.
