“True advocacy starts and begins with a well-trained lawyer that is providing independent legal counsel in the best interest of the client, not in the best interest of shareholders or a corporation.”

Lance K. Brubaker is a trial lawyer who walked away from comfortable corporate work to stand with people against powerful institutions. Trained first in oil and gas and creditors’ rights work for large companies, he eventually realized that helping banks and corporations squeeze regular people just wasn’t why he’d gone to law school. That internal friction (plus a nudge from a Rick Friedman speech  on YouTube about representing real people) pushed him toward plaintiffs’ work and, ultimately, into the courtroom as a personal injury trial lawyer.

Today, Lance is the founder and lead attorney of Brubaker Injury Law, a personal injury firm based in West Palm Beach and serving clients across South Florida. He built his reputation taking on serious, high-stakes cases—often against large corporations and insurance carriers—and focusing on clients with catastrophic injuries. His approach is straightforward: present the truth clearly, show exactly how the defendant broke the rules meant to protect everyone, and refuse to let insurers undervalue what a client has lost.

Lance is known for being deeply involved in every case that comes into the firm. Rather than running files through a high-volume, assembly-line model, he personally participates from the first intake call through medical treatment, record review, negotiation, and, when necessary, trial. That hands-on model is especially important in the “second look” cases his firm has become known for — claims that were rejected or discharged by other firms, sometimes large ones, where clients were told there was no viable case. In more than a few of those matters, Lance has invested years of work and ultimately secured life-changing results for clients who had almost given up hope.

Lance’s work has earned recognition beyond the courtroom. He has been selected to Super Lawyers and its Rising Stars list multiple times, including honors in 2023 and 2024 and ongoing recognition in 2025, and he has been distinguished by organizations such as The National Trial Lawyers Top 40 Under 40 and Lawyers of Distinction. He is admitted to practice in both Florida and New York and is a graduate of Syracuse University College of Law, where he also served as a federal judicial clerk in the U.S. District Court.

Away from his caseload, Lance has become an outspoken critic of non-lawyer ownership of law firms under Arizona’s ABS framework, arguing that private equity-driven models threaten lawyers’ independence and, ultimately, clients’ interests. That concern shows up not just in his LinkedIn commentary and writing, but in how he runs his firm day to day—keeping decisions in the hands of lawyers, keeping the focus on clients, and treating the title “officer of the court” as a responsibility rather than a slogan.
