"I find the path through the forest, so to speak, to get to the right ending."
Timothy C. Felice is a trial lawyer based in West Palm Beach, Florida, where he is the founder and principal of Felice Trial Attorneys. He represents plaintiffs in catastrophic personal injury, wrongful death, trucking, and sexual abuse cases throughout Palm Beach County and across Florida, and is regularly retained by other law firms to litigate and try their most difficult cases.
Born in New Rochelle, New York, in 1976 and raised in the small town of Hopewell Junction, New York, Felice grew up in a working-class family. His path to law was not a straight line. After struggling through his first semesters of community college, he took time off and was bartending at a dance club when, closing the bar early one night, he wandered into a Barnes and Noble and picked up Gerry Spence’s How to Argue and Win Every Time. He read it in a single night, and it changed the course of his life. He returned to school, completed a bachelor’s degree at Florida Atlantic University, graduating magna cum laude in 2001, and went on to Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Broad College of Law, where he earned his law degree in 2004.
Early in his career, Felice found that insurance carriers repeatedly paid substantial sums to settle his cases rather than face him at trial. Determined to become a courtroom lawyer, he pursued intensive trial advocacy training, attending Gerry Spence’s Trial Lawyers College, Dan Ambrose’s Trojan Horse Method, and the Gerry Spence Method, where he was invited to instructor training. He has since become an instructor and teacher himself, and is constructing a working courtroom in his West Palm Beach office to train other trial lawyers.
Felice’s practice centers on catastrophic and life-altering cases. He represented a young man left an incomplete quadriplegic after a shooting, taking over as the sixth or seventh firm on the case, uncovering overlooked evidence in the criminal file, and resolving the matter confidentially for an amount that secured the client’s and his children’s future. In a Suwannee County trucking case, he secured a jury verdict totaling $92.3 million — $77.3 million in compensatory damages and $15 million in punitive damages — for a professional musician severely injured and her passenger killed by an intoxicated commercial driver whose employer had put him on the road despite a history that should have disqualified him; the verdict is on appeal. In a case involving a U.S. figure skating coach who sexually abused a teenage student, Felice helped bring about an international warrant and extradition, a guilty plea, and a $100 million arbitration judgment.
Felice has served as lead trial counsel in more than seventeen cases resulting in verdicts or settlements of at least $1 million, and is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, Elite Trial Lawyers, and Seven Figure Litigators. He is active in the Palm Beach County Justice Association, where he holds a leadership role and co-chairs the continuing legal education committee, bringing prominent trial lawyers from around the country to teach. He lives in Palm Beach Gardens with his wife, Jessica, and their three children. Teaching and trying cases, he says, are the work that gets him up in the morning.
Trial Lawyer's Journal sets a new standard for law journal publications. With limited ads and one-of-a-kind content, it was created to celebrate wins both in and outside the courtroom.
