Rob Hartigan

Rob Hartigan grew up seeing injury from the family’s side. A year or two before he was born, his mother was hit by a drunk driver at 28 and suffered a traumatic brain injury, spending time in a coma and relearning to walk and talk. The settlement never came close to covering what she lost. That history led him to represent people harmed through no fault of their own, even after an early pull toward entertainment law during his years playing guitar in Boston cover bands.

Hartigan gives every client his cell phone number. He can sustain that because Lionhart Injury Law is a boutique rather than a volume shop, and he is selective about the cases he takes. He counts client referrals as the truest measure of his work. He also draws on years on stage as a guitarist, including a stint interning in artist management in Nashville, for the confidence to stand in front of a jury and tell a client’s story.

Hartigan represented a family rear-ended by a commercial truck whose infant suffered a brain injury and was in a coma, obtaining the available policy limits in a settlement reached during litigation. He also carried a work-related premises liability case that resolved about two weeks before trial for a client who had become homeless during the litigation and used the recovery to buy a home. Another result was a $600,000 dog bite settlement for a child attacked by a dog.

Hartigan earned a B.A. from the University of Massachusetts Lowell in 2011 and enrolled at Suffolk University Law School in 2012, switching to the evening program so he could clerk at a personal injury firm by day. He graduated in 2016 and was admitted in Massachusetts that year, then in New Hampshire and Georgia in 2022. He is also admitted to the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.

Hartigan founded Lionhart Injury Law (lionhartlaw.com), a boutique firm with offices in Atlanta, Georgia, and Boston, handling traumatic brain injury, truck and motor vehicle collision and premises liability cases. He was named a Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly Excellence in the Law Up & Coming Lawyer in 2022, a Boston Magazine Top Lawyer in 2021, a National Trial Lawyers Top 40 Under 40 in Massachusetts in 2019 and a Super Lawyers Rising Star in 2021, 2022 and 2026. He serves as treasurer of the Essex County Bar Association.
