"In short, I have come to realize that my clients don't just want a lawyer. They want a Champion—that is, someone who will fight for them individually, but also be willing to fight for the larger cause for which they stand."

Benjamin Gideon is a partner at Gideon Asen LLC in Auburn, Maine, who represents people with life-changing injuries in medical malpractice, trucking and commercial vehicle, product liability and other serious injury cases. He founded the firm in November 2020 with Taylor Asen.

Gideon holds degrees from Cornell University and Yale Law School, clerked for Judge Kermit V. Lipez of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and began his practice at Latham & Watkins in New York City. He then returned to Maine to join a plaintiff’s firm, where he practiced for 17 years before forming Gideon Asen.

In 2025, he obtained a $25 million verdict in a medical malpractice case, which the firm describes as the highest jury verdict ever awarded a medical malpractice or personal injury plaintiff in Maine. He also obtained a $22.5 million verdict in Vermont for an injured utility worker and a $6.5 million medical malpractice verdict in Bangor in April 2026. Between 2024 and 2026, he and colleagues settled three trucking cases for more than $10 million each. He is one of the lead attorneys for 100 victims of the 2023 mass shooting in Lewiston, Maine.

Gideon was inducted into the Inner Circle of Advocates in 2019 and as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers in 2020. He is a governor of the Maine Trial Lawyers Association, co-authored the book Bad Medicine: Litigating Medical Malpractice Claims in Maine and hosts the podcast Elawvate: The Trial Lawyer Podcast.
