Michael K. Johnson is a founding partner of Johnson Becker, PLLC, in St. Paul, Minnesota. He represents only plaintiffs, focusing on national product liability litigation over defective medical devices, pharmaceuticals, over-the-counter products, nutritional supplements and other dangerous products, along with mass torts, class actions and catastrophic injury cases.

Federal and state judges have appointed Johnson to leadership roles in numerous mass torts, including the plaintiffs’ executive committees in the Future Motion, Sorin heater-cooler and incretin mimetics litigation and the steering committee and later co-lead counsel role in the Mirena IUD multidistrict litigation. He has worked extensively on federal preemption, meeting with lawmakers, the FDA and the Office of the U.S. Solicitor General, and has litigated cases up to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Johnson graduated from William Mitchell College of Law in 1995 and St. Mary’s University in Winona, Minnesota, in 1992. He served on the Minnesota Association for Justice Board of Governors from 2007 to 2017 and co-chaired AAJ’s Mirena Litigation Group. Minnesota Lawyer named him an Attorney of the Year in 2009, and the American Association for Justice gave him its Steven J. Sharpe Public Service Award in 2012. He also volunteered with Trial Lawyers Care, which provided free representation to families seeking compensation through the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund.
