Deena Buchanan is the founding partner of Buchanan Law Firm, LLC in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She represents people hurt in trucking crashes and other catastrophic injuries, families in wrongful death cases, and employees with workplace claims, and she has handled matters in more than 20 jurisdictions.
Buchanan spent the early part of her career in a large firm and as in-house counsel to a Fortune 500 company, where she advised executives and defended high-dollar disputes for insurers and corporations. She moved to the plaintiff side after seeing the outcomes in several tragic cases, and she now teaches other lawyers how corporate defendants approach these claims. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh and a law degree from Georgetown University.
She is board-certified in truck accident law by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, among the first few women nationally to earn that certification, and in 2024 she was elected to the executive board of the American Association for Justice Trucking Litigation Group. She has written for the group’s Journal of Trucking Litigation and is teaching at TLU Live Huntington Beach 2027.
