Kate Feroleto

Kate Feroleto is a trial lawyer in Buffalo, New York, and an attorney at Feroleto Law PLLC, where she represents injured people and families in serious personal injury and wrongful death matters. Her practice centers on truck accident and catastrophic injury litigation across Western New York. Kate Feroleto grew up immersed in the practice of law. Her father was a trial lawyer who was raised on Buffalo’s West Side, then an immigrant neighborhood defined by a tight-knit community where neighbors looked out for one another, and her mother practiced defense law before becoming a judge. Watching her father care deeply about his cases and maintain friendships with clients long after their matters had settled left a lasting impression. She is an alumna of the Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart, Canisius College, and the University at Buffalo School of Law.

Although she always intended to represent plaintiffs, Feroleto set out to build her own path rather than join her father’s firm straight out of law school. She began her career on the defense side, working at defense firms with the deliberate aim of learning how insurers evaluate, deny, and minimize claims, and then carrying that knowledge to the plaintiff’s side. That experience gave her a working knowledge of insurance company strategy that continues to shape how she prepares and negotiates cases.

Her practice focuses on truck accident and catastrophic injury litigation, along with brain injury and wrongful death cases, across Western New York. Feroleto traces her analytical approach to childhood, when she was the one who wanted to understand why the sink was leaking and how to fix it. She applies that same instinct to trucking cases, stepping back to trace how and where a system broke down and recognizing that the causes of a crash often begin months or years before the collision itself. She is a member of the Academy of Truck Accident Attorneys and co-chairs its women’s caucus, and she is active in the Sisterhood of the Eight, an organization formed to support and sharpen the skills of women who handle truck accident and other plaintiff-side litigation.

One matter Feroleto considers career-defining involved a 77-year-old woman who was attacked in her own apartment after her landlord repeatedly failed to repair a broken lock on her kitchen window. For years the defense valued the case at $10,000 and advanced a theory that blamed the victim’s kindness toward her neighbors. Feroleto spent four years building trust with her client, a woman from a generation that does not speak openly about trauma, until the client agreed to testify. One week before trial, the defense agreed to pay the full available policy, an outcome Feroleto attributes to the relationship she built with her client and to their shared willingness to hold the line rather than accept less.

Feroleto has been recognized by the New York State Bar Association, was named to The Best Lawyers in America in 2026 for Personal Injury Litigation – Plaintiffs, and was selected as a Super Lawyers Rising Star. She serves as President of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association’s Western Region Affiliate and as a Dean of the New York State Trial Lawyers Institute, and she has been a vocal advocate on tort reform issues affecting injured New Yorkers. She has presented at national and state legal conferences, established a scholarship fund at the Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart, and served as the school’s 2023 commencement speaker. Early in her career she worried that kindness might be mistaken for weakness in a trial lawyer; her experience has convinced her of the opposite, that treating clients with dignity builds the trust that makes strong advocacy possible.
