Ben B. Rubinowitz is managing partner of Gair, Gair, Conason, Rubinowitz, Bloom, Hershenhorn, Steigman & Mackauf in New York City, where he represents seriously injured plaintiffs. His cases arise from car accidents, premises and construction accidents, medical malpractice, civil rights violations and product liability.

Rubinowitz began his career as a prosecutor before moving to plaintiffs’ personal injury work. He joined the firm in 1989. The firm says his preparation has produced 29 verdicts and more than 180 settlements above $1 million, and he has argued appeals before the Appellate Division and the New York Court of Appeals.

His results include a $120 million medical malpractice verdict in Westchester County, a $71 million verdict for a client with spinal cord injuries, a $59.2 million verdict for a former high school student disfigured in a chemistry experiment and a $41.5 million verdict for the family of a sanitation worker killed by a street sweeper. He also obtained a liability verdict against Metro-North in the Valhalla train crash, which ultimately resulted in a settlement exceeding $182 million for the families of five passengers killed and dozens of others injured.

Rubinowitz co-authors the Trial Advocacy column in the New York Law Journal and has lectured at more than 500 continuing legal education programs. He served as chair of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy. He has been named Best Lawyers Lawyer of the Year multiple times and ranked first among New York Metro lawyers on the Super Lawyers list in 2024 and 2025.
