This isn’t a partisan issue. It’s an issue of the public good and ensuring the right to vote is protected for everyone.

Richard A. Hricik is a trial and appellate attorney who leads The Law Offices of Richard A. Hricik, P.A., in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. Over a career of more than 30 years in state and federal courts, he has represented families in wrongful death cases, people with serious injuries and plaintiffs whose constitutional civil rights were violated. His work centers on catastrophic injury, product liability, medical negligence, commercial vehicle crashes and claims that hold institutions accountable.

Hricik secured a settlement of more than $2 million and a precedent-setting ruling from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit in civil rights litigation over a fatal carbon monoxide exposure at the Allen Benedict Court Apartments, a Columbia public housing complex where two residents died. He has also pursued a wrongful death case over a 2022 Mother’s Day crash in which a Charleston County deputy struck and killed a mother and her two daughters, and in March 2026 he won a grant of certiorari, vacatur and remand from the U.S. Supreme Court in Williams v. Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, which set aside a grant of immunity to the sheriff’s office. In October 2024 he obtained emergency relief that extended South Carolina’s voter-registration deadlines by 10 days after Hurricane Helene.

A 1993 graduate of William & Mary Law School, Hricik teaches Constitutional Civil Rights Litigation under 42 U.S.C. § 1983 as adjunct faculty at his alma mater and at Charleston School of Law, and he previously taught constitutional law and criminal justice at Charleston Southern University. The South Carolina Supreme Court has appointed him as an Attorney to Assist the Office of Disciplinary Counsel and as a Fee Dispute Hearing Officer, and he serves as an expert witness on the attorney standard of care in legal malpractice cases.
