Rocky McElhaney is the founder and principal shareholder of Rocky McElhaney Law Firm, a Tennessee personal injury and workers’ compensation practice with offices in Nashville, Hendersonville, Murfreesboro and Clarksville. He handles serious auto, truck and motorcycle crash cases, brain and spinal cord injuries, wrongful death, workers’ compensation and Social Security disability claims for clients across Tennessee and the Southeast.
McElhaney grew up in Morristown, Tennessee. He decided to become a lawyer as a teenager after watching his father, a millwright, struggle for years to get an insurer to pay a workers’ compensation claim for a back injury. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 1995 and a law degree from the Nashville School of Law in 1999. He is admitted in Tennessee state courts, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
His 2010 representation of Timothy Cook against General Motors produced a verdict that let many injured Tennessee workers reopen closed claims. He received the Paladin Award from the Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association and the AFL-CIO’s Presidential Award, and he is a member of The National Trial Lawyers Top 100. He and his wife, Penny, support Gallatin CARES, a Sumner County food pantry.
Trial Lawyer's Journal sets a new standard for law journal publications. With limited ads and one-of-a-kind content, it was created to celebrate wins both in and outside the courtroom.
