Our number one core value is to be used and useful to others.

    R. James Amaro is the founder and lead trial attorney of Amaro Law Firm in Houston, Texas. He represents individuals, families and businesses in catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases, trucking and motor vehicle claims, insurance disputes and commercial litigation.

Amaro founded the firm in 2005 after working as a defense lawyer at large firms in Texas and Wisconsin. Soon after opening the firm, he represented victims of the BP refinery explosion in Texas City, later litigated one of the first lawsuits arising from Hurricane Ike and represented cleanup workers and small businesses harmed by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. He studied economics at the University of Texas at Austin and earned his law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School, where he was managing editor of the Wisconsin International Law Journal.

He is president of the National Latino Trial Lawyers Association and serves on the national advisory board of the Association of Plaintiff Interstate Trucking Lawyers of America. Best Lawyers has listed him for personal injury and insurance litigation, and he has been named a Super Lawyer since 2016. He and his wife, Angelica, co-founded the nonprofit Baseball for Babies, and he serves on the boards of the Sugar Land Heritage Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Alumni Council.
